Science at Nevill Road Junior School

Our Science Intent: Science teaching at Nevill Road Junior School aims to give all children a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge to help them to think scientifically. Our aim is to help children understand the implications of Science in the real world, today and for the future. Concepts taught should be reinforced by focusing on the five key features of scientific enquiry. All children are encouraged to develop and use a range of ‘working scientifically’ skills, including observations, planning and investigations, as well as being encouraged to question the world around them and explore possible answers for their scientific- based questions. Specialist vocabulary is taught and built up throughout Key Stage 2.
