Physical Education, Sport and Physical Activity at Nevill Road Junior School
Our PE, Sport and Physical Activity Intent: At Nevill Road Junior School we intend to provide children with a high-quality physical education curriculum which inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We believe all children can achieve in PE , and teach for secure and deep understanding of skills for a variety of sports and activities in manageable steps. We have the same high expectations for all learners, including those with SEND in PE and sport The attached provision map shows what PE looks like for all leaners at Nevill Road Junior School. We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.
We aim for all pupils to:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities.
- be physically active for sustained periods of time.
- be fit and healthy and understand the importance of this for their physical and mental well-being.
- engage in competitive sports and activities.
Over the past 6 years, Nevill Road Junior school have recieved many awards in recognition of our commitment to Physical Education, Sport and Physical Activity. These include the Stockport Sport Award, The SHAPES award for providing opprtunities for children to stay active during lockdown and for Inclusion. Nevill Road Juniors have swept the board bringing away 6 trophies in total, at the Stockport School's awards 2022. We have also been crowned the winning school of the Commitment to Leadership & Volunteering and Commitment to Sporting Competition. Our sports teams recently won the Transition Athletics and SEND Sports Hall Athletics. The school was also won the Stockport Rounders, Hockey & Girls' Cricket competitons. We are increadibly proud of these achievements and would like to say a huge thank you to the staff, parents and all the children who have made this possible.
